It seems that 90% of the admins just love giving out suspensions, supervision and demotions, to the point where just mild, silly little things like sticking a middle finger emoji in the shoutbox will cause a massive trainwreck and usually, everyone involved all get punished because me and Rodol and many other people are just sick of this happening over and over again because of nothing most of the time; it’s a headache to deal with, no one wants to wake up and find the forums clogged with reports about stupid stuff, just stop trying to screw eachother up and you won’t have to deal with a million reports. I’m not saying you should complete ignore the rules and never punish anyone, but it seems people are just trying really hard to get someone to mess up and kind of break a rule and then someone complains saying they broke the rule which most of the time, it doesn’t really matter too much, and then you end up 5 days later wondering why all of you got suspended for 3 days. If you don’t know the answer to that question, read my post again.
I always thought the concept of a tiny picture expressing how you feel would be simple to understand and it can’t be used in a too malicious way but it seems that people really don’t understand. If you haven’t seen the screenshots, Pyro had stuck in a middle finger emoji into the RR shoutbox. Someone may say “Pyro don’t do that” because you could say that would violate the “no swearing” rule but please do not fight over it. If an admin gives you a warning or a suspension or whatever and you don’t agree with what they’ve done, complain about it later on, please do not start a 10 minute conversation about who’s getting suspended because that just makes it worse. Just say something along the lines of “okay Luke (or whoever it is), I deserve that” as soon as you can and then complain to other people. You wouldn’t go shouting at someone you don’t get along with in work, you would talk to your manager after 5pm or whenever you finish, it’s just illogical.
And try to avoid saying “I will suspend you” in their face in the first place, 90% of the time this is how all the arguments start because you’re arguing over why you got suspended and you shouldn’t be. Just say “Pyro don’t do that” and leave it. Rodol actually says in the rules that you should warn the player first to not do it, THEN you can threaten them with the consequences if they do it again, if they don’t care, then you can give them a suspension or whatever. If he questions you why you warned him, attempt to derail the discussion onto something else so you don’t go on about it, because again, that’s how a flame war starts. As an admin, try be generous to people and not start instantly giving out punishments. Again, I’m not saying the rules don’t have effect, if someone is constantly breaking the rules after 2 warnings, you should probably do something about it, but you shouldn’t go on about it because this starts a flame war.
If I had a choice I would say no one gets punished here because there’s really nothing major here, but you now know how to tackle something like this and if it happens again, you know who will be punished.
